Police were trying to determine what led to a shooting Saturday night at a Durham apartment complex in which several people were hurt, authorities said.

Police were called to the Valley Terrace Apartments, located at 2836 Chapel Hill Road, around 9:30 p.m. on a report of shots fired. A motive for the shooting was not immediately released but investigators said three men were wounded during the incident.

Their injuries were said to be non-life threatening, police said.

The victims’ conditions and identities were pending.

A fourth person suffering from a gunshot wound sought care at a local hospital and Durham police were trying to determine if the shooting was related to the incident at Valley Terrace apartments.

There was a white tent in the parking lot of the apartment complex, but it was not clear if the shooting occurred inside the tent or if there was a party at the complex before the shooting occurred.

The Durham police mobile unit was at the scene and yellow crime scene tape surrounded the apartment complex.

Anyone with information was asked to call Durham police.
