Tulsa Football Player Stabbed at Party

February 11, 1996

TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Police arrested a 23-year-old man Saturday following the stabbing of a University of Tulsa football player at a fraternity party.

Offensive tackle Drew Poskon, 22, was listed in fair condition at Hillcrest Medical Center after being stabbed once in the stomach.

Officers arrested Brian Alexander Arneecher on a complaint of assault with a dangerous weapon, said Lt. Bill Grotts.

The stabbing took place early Saturday morning at the Sigma Chi fraternity house at the university.

University officials said a small number of people apparently tried to crash the party when a fight broke out.

Poskon was stabbed after an argument led to shoving and wrestling, Grotts said.

Tulsa coach Dave Rader said Poskon, of McKeesport, Pa., and the suspect ``had a verbal confrontation.″
