Warren girls post win against Fighting Tigers
IRONTON - Olivia Alloway scored 13 with nine in the third quarter and led Warren past the Ironton Fighting Tigers, 41-28, Saturday in a girls basketball game of the Ironton Classic at the Conley Center.
Molly Grayson scored 12 for Warren (6-3) from Vincent, Ohio, that took a 6-5 lead on Alloway’s basket at 4:45 of the first quarter and didn’t trail after that.
The Warriors led 23-13 against an injury-depleted Ironton team playing without starters Lexie Arden and Samantha Lafon. Ironton (4-4) also lost Kameren Arden because of an ankle injury in the second half when Warren built its lead to 21.
The Fighting Tigers chipped away and pulled within 38-28 after an Elli Williams basket with 1:57 left, but didn’t move closer.
“You can’t get behind by 20 and win very often,” Ironton coach Doug Graham said.
Riley Schreck led the Fighting Tigers with 11 points.
