Two killed in head-on crash in Nash County

Two drivers died on Saturday during a head-on crash in Nash County.

Around 4:30 p.m., the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to North Carolina Highway 97 near Rocky Cross Road.

According to state troopers, a green Chevy truck was headed west on N.C. 97, and a white Ford Focus was traveling east. When one of the drivers attempted to pass another car on a double yellow line, the two collided head-on. Both drivers died.

A passenger in the green truck suffered minor injuries. There were no passengers in the Ford Focus, according to officials.

Officials did not indicate who was at fault. This story will be updated if more information becomes available.
