Dortmund won’t appeal coach Klopp’s ban

October 9, 2013

DORTMUND, Germany (AP) — Borussia Dortmund will not appeal coach Juergen Klopp’s Champions League ban and his assistant will lead the team against Arsenal on Oct. 22 in London.

Klopp says he doesn’t want to create the impression that he is taking lightly his “incorrect behavior” and is accepting UEFA’s ruling “with a heavy heart.”

UEFA imposed a two-match ban against Klopp for his “irresponsible” rant at a match official during Dortmund’s 2-1 defeat at Napoli on Sept. 18.

The German coach served the first match of his sanction during Dortmund’s 3-0 victory against Marseille last week. Klopp’s assistant, Zeljko Buvac, will guide the team in London again.
