GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ Florida basketball player LaDarius Halton quit the team Monday to pursue a professional career overseas.

Halton, a senior guard, averaged 4.2 points per game for the Gators, and he wasn't expected to play much this season.

Halton redshirted after his freshman season after having knee surgery. Halton had a degenerative condition that coach Billy Donovan once said made his knees comparable to those of a 70-year-old man.
