Sweden’s Volvo Appoints New President
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) _ Swedish truck and bus maker Volvo AB appointed Peter Karlsten to be president of its North American operations, the company said Monday.
Greensboro, North Carolina-based Volvo Trucks North America manufactures 18-wheel commercial trucks, along with diesel engines and suspensions.
Karlsten, who was president since 2001 of Volvo Trucks in Brazil, will take over Oct. 1 from Michel Gigou, who is expected to return to Europe at the end of the year.
Gigou will continue to be chairman of Mack Trucks Inc. of which he was previously the president. Goteborg-based Volvo controls Mack Trucks.
