Ben Sasse: Julian Assange’s arrest ‘good news for freedom-loving people’
Sen. Ben Sasse said Thursday WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s arrest is “good news for freedom-loving people.”
London police said they arrested Mr. Assange on U.S. extradition charges as well as breaching U.K. bail conditions after seven years of political asylum within the Ecuadorian Embassy.
He has also been under extensive U.S. Justice Department scrutiny for publishing government secrets.
“This arrest is good news for freedom-loving people. Julian Assange has long been a wicked tool of [Russian President] Vladimir Putin and the Russian intelligence services. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison,” the Nebraska Republican tweeted.
