82-year-old Trumbull man seeks probation for groping incident
BRIDGEPORT - An 82-year-old Trumbull man, accused of groping a woman in a supermarket, has applied for a pretrial probation program.
John Kocsis, who was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree breach of peace following the alleged Sept. 20 incident, has applied for accelerated rehabilitation.
Under accelerated rehabilitation Kocsis would not plead guilty to the charges but could be placed on up to two years’ probation. If he commits no other crimes during that probation the charges against him would be dismissed.
Police said the woman was near the meat aisle when she was first approached by Kocsis. A few minutes later, police said the woman was near the pharmacy when she felt hands on her breast and body and looked down to see that her bra was exposed. Kocsis reportedly told her he had accidentally stumbled into her and gave no other explanation, police said.
Police were able to identify Kocsis by reviewing the store’s video surveillance.
