SINGAPORE (AP) _ The romantic drama ``Kal Ho Naa Ho (Tomorrow Might Not Be There)'' won eight awards at the fifth International Indian Film Academy Awards, India's version of the Oscars.

``Kal Ho Naa Ho'' won best picture, actress, supporting actor and actress, story, music direction, lyrics and male playback singer.

But Shah Rukh Khan lost in the leading actor category to Hritik Roshan, who won for the sci-fi film ``Koi Mil Gaya (I Met Someone),'' India's biggest box-office hit last year.

``Thank you for making a dream come true,'' said Hritik, his voice rising to be heard above the screams from the more than 8,000 people who attended Saturday night's awards show at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Winners were selected by a global Internet poll in which more than a billion votes were tallied.
