Daughter Of Yankee Owner Married
NEW YORK (AP) _ Jessica Steinbrenner, a daughter of New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, was married Saturday at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
Cardinal John J. O’Connor officiated at the service at the cathedral’s Lady Chapel, and baritone Robert Merrill - who performs ″The Star-Spangled Banner″ at Yankees games - sang ″Ave Maria.″
The groom was Joseph Molloy, basketball coach at St. Lawrence Academy High School in Tampa, Fla.
Miss Steinbrenner works at her father’s company, American Shipbuilding, which is located in Tampa, said family spokeswoman Rosemary Taglione.
Ms. Taglione described the wedding as ″a family ceremony,″ and said no members of Steinbrenner’s baseball team attended.
But the guests did include captains of industry like Chrysler Chairman Lee Iaccoca, New York City developer Donald Trump and Broadway producer Jimmy Nederlander.
