April 7, 2019

Authorities in Moore County located a kayaker who went missing in High Falls on Saturday night.

Authorities said four kayakers were in the river near North Carolina Highway 22 when three fell out of the boats and swam to shore.

On Sunday, officials reported that the fourth kayaker, originally reported missing, was located in the water and rescued by Moore County’s water rescue unit.

The man was transported for evaluation but sustained no significant injuries, according to officials.

Om Saturday, crews responding to the scene were using multiple boats to canvass the river while the Highway Patrol was asked to bring in a helicopter to help locate the man.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office and three fire departments assisted in the search.
