Woman charged after shot fired inside North Carolina theater
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A woman has been charged after a shot was fired inside a North Carolina movie theater.
Greenville police told local media outlets that 30-year-old Shameeka Latrice Lynch is jailed on a $250,000 bond on multiple charges, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Authorities say she turned herself in on Saturday and appeared in court on Monday, where she waived the right to counsel and indicated she would hire her own attorney.
Investigators say a shot was fired inside the theater Friday night during an argument between several people over assigned seating at a showing of “Black Panther.”
The theater was evacuated and multiple officers responded to the scene under an active-shooter protocol. No one was injured.
