DISTRICT LACROSSE ROUNDUP: Orzel Hits Milestone, Top-seeded Warriors Advance

Top-seeded Wyoming Area opened up the District 2 Class 2A playoffs with a convincing 20-6 win at home against Pittston Area.

Emma Kelleher led the Warriors’ offense with seven goals. Makenzie Switzer tallied 10 points with three goals and seven assists.

Cassidy Orzel had three goals, including her 100th career. She also handed out four assists, gathered eight ground balls and was 10 for 12 on draw controls.

In goal, Mary Kate O’Brien made five saves.

Lily Savoy and Emily Rinaldi each scored twice for Pittston Area. Brooklyn Pedana made six saves.

Wyoming Area awaits the winner of today’s Abington Heights-Scranton Prep game in Tuesday’s semifinals.

Bailey Fedun scored five goals, including the 200th of her career in the Warriors win in the District 2/6 Class 3A subregional semifinal.

Skyler Padgett added a hat trick for the Warriors. Lauren Matarazzo passed out six assists.

For Coughlin, Jolene Ulichney had a pair of goals and Bailey Cunningham also scored. Raven Bozek made eight saves.

Chase Stephens had four goals and Greg Fisher added two as Scranton Prep defeated North Pocono, 10-6, in the opener of the District 2 Class 2A playoffs.

The Cavaliers advance to face the winner of Saturday’s game between Lake-Lehman and Wyoming Seminary.
