BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Officials in Connecticut say a 2-year-old child has drowned in a family pool.

Police responding to a 911 call went to the Bridgeport home at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. First responders started CPR at the home before rushing the child to an area hospital. The toddler was later pronounced dead.

Bridgeport police spokesman Av Harris says the drowning is under investigation.

No names were released. Neighbors told the Connecticut Post that the family had just moved to the home in June and it had an above-ground backyard pool.
