Billings theater receives $1M donation for renovations
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Billings’ Alberta Bair Theater has received a $1 million gift from two private donors that it will use to renovate its aging facility.
The theater’s Executive Director Jan Dietrich says the gift from Jim and Chris Scott is the largest private donation in the theater’s 31-year history.
The Billings Gazette reported Wednesday that so far, the performance arts organization has raised more than $9 million for the theater’s renovations.
The renovations and expansions costs will be around $12 million.
The upgrades include a new sound system, new seating and expanding the lobby and main-floor concessions.
The organization will also bring the theater in compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.
The organization is preparing to take the fundraising campaign public to raise the rest of the money.
