...Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine medical students including: Michelle Stefanelli of Moscow; Alayna Craig-Lucas and Brandon Bombar of Scranton; Lauren Skudalski of Wyoming; Neil Patel and Andre D’Souza of Mountain Top; Joseph Brutico of South Abington Twp.; and Madison Strony of Clarks Summit, helped host the school’s ninth annual Turkey Trot 5K/10K run in downtown Scranton.

The event and events leading up to the race raised $16,476 for the AllOne Foundation based in Wilkes-Barre, which works to improve the health and welfare of people in Northeast and North Central Pennsylvania, and benefitted the Friends of the Poor’s holiday food giveaways.

Student organizers reported that 261 runners and walkers participated.

High notes

Keystone College graduate and Air Force Veteran Don Jones was the guest speaker during the college’s 14th annual Veterans Day luncheon

Jones is the commander of the Clarks Summit VFW Post 7069. He also serves as military liaison for the college’s Elmer R. Hawk ’48 Veterans Center.

The luncheon was held at the Theatre in Brooks.
