Hill Tops MEAC All-Conference Team
GREENSBORO (AP) _ Alisha Hill of Howard was voted player of the year and was the leading vote-getter for the 1997-98 All Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s basketball team announced Thursday.
Hill, who led the MEAC in scoring with 19.3 points a game and was second in the nation in rebounding at 12.5 a game, was named on 21 of 27 ballots for top player honors.
Joining Hill on the first team are Aquenda Clark of Florida A&M, Karen Johnson of Delaware State, Danielle Dawson of Hampton and Liesha Mitchell of Coppin State.
The second team is made up of Monique Liddell of Morgan State, JoVanka Lewis of Hampton, Teresa Jenkins of Florida A&M, Aileen Frazer of Maryland-Eastern Shore and Nisha Wilson of Hampton.
The group of 27 coaches, sports information directors and media members chose Patricia Bibbs of Hampton as coach of the year and Felicia Bryant of Hampton as rookie of the year.
