DRACUT -- Former Dracut School Committee member Matthew Sheehan defeated Brady McCarron on Tuesday for one of two Dracut seats on the Greater Lowell Technical High School Committee.

Sheehan received 5,970 votes and McCarron received 4,909 votes, according to unofficial results from the Dracut Town Clerk’s Office.

Earlier this year, Sheehan said he graduated from GL Tech and that serving on the board would be an honor.

Sheehan sought re-election to the Dracut School Committee last year and lost to Sabrina Heisey, who then went on to challenge state Rep. Colleen Garry in the state primary earlier this fall and lost.

McCarron, who graduated from Greater Lowell Tech in 2012, said the school is a very big part of his life and that he’s always had a passion for career and technical education.

The seat is open because Joe Espinola ran unsuccessfully for state Senate.
