PC 08 29 volunteers needed
The city of Pasadena’s Neighborhood Network Division is seeking volunteers for a pilot program in which exterior repairs will be made to 20 homes of residents who are elderly, disabled, low income or military veterans.
Through the “Team Up to Team Up to Clean Up” project, dozens of volunteers from local businesses, neighborhoods, schools and churches will come together from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 7 and 8 to do the work at homes throughout Pasadena.
Projects range from minor home repair to roof replacement, which will occur through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
The effort is being coordinated through the city of Pasadena and funded by sponsors including Chevron-Phillips, T and T Construction, Waste Management and Lasco Remodeling.
“We’ve got several groups coming: employee volunteers sent by our sponsors, Boy Scout Troops, church groups, neighbors … but we can always use more help,” event coordinator Selina Bellar said in a press release.
The idea for the project came after Bellar’s Neighborhood Network Department began fielding calls from the community after Hurricane Harvey left several thousand Pasadena families homeless and affected many others. Organizers hope to make this an annual event, the release said.
