Hilda Lenz, 91, Columbus

Hilda Katharina Lydia Lenz, 91, died peacefully Nov. 22, 2018, at a hospice in Tomah, after a long illness.

Hilda was born to Gustav and Katherina in Milwaukee. She was a graduate of UW-Madison, where she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Hilda was employed with the Columbus Community Hospital as an RN during her career. She was married to Herbert Lenz on April 22, 1950, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She and her family lived on a dairy farm outside of Columbus. Hilda was a former member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus. She enjoyed gardening and she will be remembered for her wonderful home cooking.

Hilda is survived by her daughters, Jean Ruth (William) Summers of Wauwatosa, Susan Marie (Geoffrey) Hoffmann of Tomah, and Karen Elaine (David) Leis of Wilton; her siblings, Esther (Art) Papenfus of Golden, Colorado, and Walter (Chela) Naujock of Franklin; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert in 2001; and her son, Allen Harold Lenz.

A visitation will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.
