TORONTO (AP) _ Martina Hingis and Lindsay Davenport withdrew from the Rogers AT&T Cup on Friday because of injuries.

Hingis, ranked No. 1, has a recurring stress reaction to her left foot. Davenport, ranked third, has left wrist tendinitis.

Both women advanced Friday to the semifinals of the estyle.com Classic in Manhattan Beach, Calif.

``I've had it in the past, but I never took a MRI,'' Hingis said. ``If it gets worse, I shouldn't play.''

When she's done in California, Hingis plans to return to Florida for rest and practice leading up to the U.S. Open beginning Aug. 27.

The Rogers AT&T Cup added four-time champion Monica Seles, ranked 10th in the world. Also in the field are No. 2 Jennifer Capriati, No. 6 Justine Henin and No. 8 Serena Williams.

The tournament begins Monday.
