GED-seeker needs help to get caught up on mortgage

December 14, 2018

A 34-year-old Española mother of three says several life-changing events have caused a major financial strain.

The death of her mother left a “huge hardship,” she says, along with her separation from the father of her youngest child.

She says she is trying to get her GED certificate so she can get a better job.

Meanwhile, she has fallen several months behind on her mortgage. “I have been working with my mortgage company,” she wrote, in her application, “but desperately need help to catch up until I can obtain my GED and a full-time job.”

She is among hundreds of people seeking help from the Empty Stocking Fund this season.
