Winona police calls for Monday, July 30: Man, woman injured in motorcycle crash on Garvin Heights Road

Friday

8:26 a.m. — An employee at Walmart reported fraudulent charges made to a company credit card.

9:35 a.m. — A Winona man reported his bank card missing from the 100 block of Whispering Lane.

12:04 p.m. — A Winona woman reported a silver Giant Cypress DX bicycle valued at $300 missing from the 50 block of East Fifth Street.

6:35 p.m. — A Winona man reported his license plate stolen from his vehicle sometime in the last few days.

Saturday

12:13 a.m. — Donald Allie Huck, 49, Winona, was referred on charges of fourth-degree drunk driving and gross misdemeanor refusal to submit to testing after police executed a traffic stop when he failed to stop at two stop signs on Third Street while riding a motorized bicycle.

1:31 a.m. — Scott Taylor Yess, 59, Winona, was referred for fourth-degree drunk driving after he was stopped for frequent and unwarranted use of his horn and riding his moped on a sidewalk. Yess failed a field sobriety test. His blood alcohol level was found to be 0.11 percent.

2:34 a.m. — Jaquann Oshay Hughes, 24, Winona, was arrested and referred for third-degree drunk driving and cited for driving with a revoked driver’s license during a traffic stop near West Wabasha and Hilbert streets. Hughes’ blood alcohol level was 0.11 percent.

12:43 p.m. — A 29-year-old man and 27-year-old woman were injured in a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Garvin Heights Road and Lake Boulevard. The man and woman were transported to Winona Health for medical treatment.

2:45 p.m. — A Winona man living in the 1800 block of Edgewood Road reported finding a timber rattlesnake on his property. A snake handler was called in to assist the police department with the relocation of the animal.

3:14 p.m. — A Winona man living in the 1300 block of Skyline Drive reported finding a timber rattlesnake in his tool shed. A snake handler was called in to assist the police department with the relocation of the animal.

8:34 p.m. — Tracy Lynn Hazelton, 47, Winona was arrested on a probation violation after she was observed drinking alcohol near the 150 block of Fairfax Street.

11:30 p.m. — A 17-year-old boy from Sun Prairie, Wis., was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer observed the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle during a traffic stop in the 300 block of Pelzer Street.

Sunday

1:15 a.m. — Dennis Craig Smith, 61, Winona, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and referred on fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine and accompanying drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop. Police discovered two grams of methamphetamine in his pocket. Also referred on fifth-degree drug possession charges was David Patrick Fournier, 51, Rochester. Police found 0.092 grams of methamphetamine in one of his pockets.

3:04 a.m. — Mariah Joy Zuccarelli, 22, Rushford, was referred on fifth-degree drug possession charges after police found a bag of marijuana weighing 60.9 grams during a traffic stop near Junction and Park streets.

11:31 a.m. — A Winona woman reported a Coach brand purse valued at $400, containing several cards, a wallet and $820 in cash. She reported a fraudulent charge of $203 made to a bank card. The woman admitted the pin number for the card may have been written on a note in the purse.

12:11 p.m. — Connor Jacob Perkins, 20, Winona, was cited for theft after he was caught shoplifting from Walmart.

6:52 p.m. — A employee at Walmart reported that a customer attempted to pass off a motion picture $100 bill. The customer left before police could arrive.

10:58 p.m. — Carrie Raye Huffman, 48, Winona, was cited for loud music and open burning after police received a report of excessive noise in the 700 block of West Broadway. When police arrived, they observed loud music and an open fire located too close to the residence.

6:00 p.m. — A Winona woman reported that an unoccupied home on Old Homer Road had been burglarized sometime between July 25 and July 26. The woman who takes care of the property reported that nothing appeared to be missing.

Saturday

1 a.m. — Floyd Kenneth Saville, Hutson Falls, N.Y., was arrested and referred on drunk driving charges after he was stopped for speeding on Hwy. 76. His blood alcohol level was 0.12 percent.

1:02 a.m. — Bryon Franklin Conry, 26, La Crosse, was referred of fifth-degree drug charges after he was stopped for speeding near mile marker 249 on I-90. Deputies discovered a small container of a schedule-two stimulant.

5:09 p.m. — A Winona woman, 36, stuck and killed a deer on County Road 17.

11:49 p.m. — Deputies assisted with breaking up a large fight near Third and Market street.

Sunday

1:50 a.m. — Yano Wayne Gipson, 45, was referred on drunk driving charges after he was pulled over for speeding on Hwy. 76 near I-90. His blood alcohol level was 0.07 percent.

2:30 p.m. — The Sheriff’s Department activated the emergency operations center after a funnel cloud was spotted over Lewiston and Altura.
