CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) _ Tyrone Coleman rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown Saturday to help Tennessee-Chattanooga beat Mississippi Valley State 26-7.

Coleman’s 1-yard TD run midway through the second quarter tied the game at 7-7. The Mocs (1-2) took the lead for good minutes later with 2 points on a Mississippi Valley State (1-2) safety.

The ball was snapped over the quarterback’s head and out of the end zone, giving the Mocs a 9-7 lead.

They extended the margin to 12-7 early in the fourth on a 27-yard field goal by Scot Kielblock. Kareem Robinson put the game out of reach minutes later when he intercepted a pass and ran it back 73 yards for a touchdown.

The only score for the Delta Devils came on a 31-yard pass from Keith Poindexter to Kwanza Golden.

Mississippi Valley State surpassed the Mocs in passing with 198 total yards, compared to Tennessee-Chattanooga’s 116.

But the Mocs ruled on the ground with 261 total yards rushing, where the Delta Devils had 126.
