Colorado St. 96, Hawaii 74
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) _ David Evans scored 22 points to lead Colorado State to a 96-74 victory over Hawaii in the Western Athletic conference opener Monday night.
Evans’ basket at 11:52 of the first half put CSU (9-2 overall and 1-0 in the WAC) ahead for good at 14-12.
Hawaii (6-3, 0-1) rallied to within 64-40 midway through the second half before CSU launched a 15-2 run to clinch the victory.
Other Rams scoring in double figures were Bobby Sellers with 18 points, followed by Joe Vogel at 16 and Willie Walker with 12.
Justin Sueing led Hawaii with 19, followed by Phil Handy, Tony Maroney and Tes Whitlock with 12 each.
