Feds find drugs, suspect in dunes

Homeland Security Investigations agents arrested a man Wednesday who was hiding in the dunes at Beach Access 6 with six bundles of marijuana.

Authorities charged Fabian Camaliel Rodriguez-Jiminez, born in 1993, with knowingly possessing with the intent to distribute approximately 486 pounds of marijuana, according to a criminal complaint.

Rodriguez-Jiminez, according to the charging document, told investigators that he left Matamoros in a fishing vessel that dropped him off at the location until he was to be picked up.

He made his first appearance in court Monday where he was ordered held without bond pending a probable cause and detention hearing scheduled for Feb. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Ignacio Torteya III, court records indicate.
