6 hurt when car strikes trolley bus carrying wedding party
EAST ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Police say six people suffered minor injuries when a trolley bus carrying a wedding party was struck by a car on Long Island.
Suffolk County police say it happened in East Islip Sunday afternoon after a woman driving an Alfa Romeo ran a stop sign and struck the trolley bus. The car then struck a poll which toppled wires.
Police told Newsday that five people on the trolley bus, which carries 11 passengers, were treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the Alpha Romeo, who was not identified, was also hospitalized for minor injuries. Police say the driver was issued a summons for failing to stop at a stop sign.
