Village OKs resignation of trustee in fraud case
WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. (AP) — A southwestern Illinois village has signed off on the resignation of a trustee who has pleaded guilty to health care fraud.
The Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/1aM53Jj ) reports that Washington Park’s board accepted the Nov. 6 resignation letter from 39-year-old Darron Suggs.
Suggs pleaded guilty earlier this month in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis, admitting he filed fraudulent Medicaid bills on behalf of two people receiving federal aid for home health care.
He falsely claimed he acted as their personal health care assistant for seven years beginning in 2006.
The federal government says the fraud netted Suggs nearly $65,000.
Suggs is to be sentenced next March.
