NUMEROUS WRECKS BLOCK, CAUSE DELAYS ON INTERSTATE 15 IN BANNOCK COUNTY
Numerous crashes on Interstate 15 Monday night in Bannock County temporarily shut down the freeway’s southbound lanes near Inkom and caused lengthy delays elsewhere.
Reports indicate that several people might have been injured in the wrecks.
The accidents began to happen around 8:40 p.m. Monday, with the first occurring on Interstate 15 southbound about two miles south of Inkom. The Idaho Transportation Department reported that this crash shut down the interstate’s southbound lanes for over two hours.
After the crash near Inkom more wrecks were reported on Interstate 15 between McCammon and Chubbuck, including at least one at the Interstate 15-Interstate 86 junction along the Pocatello-Chubbuck border.
Reports indicated the crashes caused long delays on Interstate 15 and in some cases state police and sheriff’s deputies diverted traffic off the interstate to try to decrease the congestion.
Reports also indicated that some of the wrecks involved up to five vehicles and numerous ambulances responded.
Authorities have not yet provided further details on the wrecks or any information on the seriousness of the injuries suffered by the victims.
