Izawa Surges Ahead at Bridgestone
CHIBA, Japan (AP) _ Toshimitsu Izawa birdied the last three holes Friday en route to a 7-under-par 65 to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the $1.02 million Bridgestone Open.
Izawa, winner of two tournaments this season, had eight birdies in the round at the 7,178-yard, par-72 Sodegaura Country Club. He was at 11-under 133.
Mitsuo Harada, in contention for his first title of the season and second overall, shot a 68 and was alone in second place at 10-under 134.
Nobuhito Sato, this season’s earnings leader, had a 66 to move into a tie for third at 8-under 136 with Katsumasa Miyamoto, who had a 67.
First-round leader Jumbo Ozaki, winner of 112 career titles, had a 73 and fell into a share of 11th place at 5-over 139.
