GREENFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A 22-year-old New Hampshire man convicted of sexually abusing a child in Massachusetts is being sentenced.

The Northwest District Attorney's office says Joshua Matthews is a former Athol resident who most recently lived in Keene, N.H. He was convicted on Wednesday in Franklin Superior Court in Greenfield of two counts of forcible rape of a child.

Prosecutors said Matthews sexually abused a 7-year-old foster child who lived in his family home. The victim, who is now 14, testified at the trial.

Judge Mary-Lop Rup is to sentence Matthews on Friday. He could face up to life in prison.
