Birthday boy Sturm leads Cabell Midland past Riverside 76-60

ONA — Cabell Midland point guard Ty Sturm celebrated his birthday by scoring 14 points, handing out 11 assists and grabbing eight rebounds Friday night to lead the Knights (3-0) in a 76-60 victory over Riverside (0-3) in boys high school basketball at the Castle.

Chandler Schmidt led Cabell Midland in scoring with 24. Jovaunte Elzy paced the Warriors with 23 points. Brian Massey chipped in 14.

The Knights return to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Capital.

Austin Gartin paced Fairland (4-1 overall, 2-0 OVC), which outscored Coal Grove 18-10 in the fourth quarter, with 15 points. Jacob Polcyn scored 11 and snagged seven rebounds.

Jaylen McKenzie led the Hornets with 15 points. Aaron Music scored 12 and picked off seven rebounds.

Robert Clutter scored 16 and Luke Pauley 10 for Calvary. Luke Brown paced New Life Christian with 25 points. Colton Smith scored 14 and Bryce McClung chipped in 11.
