South Korea Olympic team 2, United States 1
PUSAN, South Korea (AP) _ Lim Keun-jae scored the go-ahead goal with 20 minutes remaining Friday as the South Korean Olympic team beat the United States national team 2-1.
Lim, a 21-year-old university student, took a missed clearing pass and beat goalkeeper Mark Dodd inside the left post.
Peter Vermes had tied the game for the United States two minutes earlier off an assist from Jeff Agoos.
Lim gave the Koreans the lead with 14 minutes remaining in the first half on a header following a free kick.
South Korea outshot the American 7-6, and the U.S. team was whistled for 21 fouls to 12 for the Koreans.
The United States plays South Korea’s national team on Sunday at Pohong. The Americans are 1-2-1 this year in full internationals. The Americans are then off until a May 5 game against Uruguay at Denver.
