Head-on Canton crash injures two teens
CANTON — A head-on collision sent two teens to the hospital early Sunday morning at the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 and Fillmore County Road 23, about a mile southeast of Canton.
Shane Thomas Sexton, 19, of Decorah, Iowa, was driving south on U.S. 52 at about 12:51 a.m. Sunday when the 2012 Chevy Silverado he was driving crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2004 Kia Sedona driven by Benjamin Gjere Khoa, 19, of Lanesboro. According to a Minnesota State Patrol report, the vehicles collided head-on on the wet pavement, causing severe damage to both.
Sexton was not transported from the scene, and was uninjured, according to the state patrol report. Khoa was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital–Saint Marys with non-life threatening injuries. No update was available on his condition.
Colton Joseph Majerus, 17, of Rushford, a passenger in the Kia was transported to a health care facility in Decorah. Another passenger in the Kia, Zhek Daniel Brennan, 17, of Rushford, was not transported for injuries.
No update was available on Majerus’ condition.
The Canton Fire Department, Canton Ambulance, Mabel Ambulance and Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the crash scene.
