Bystander at St. Louis-area bowling alley fatally shot
RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) — A 24-year-old man has been arrested for a fatal shooting of a bystander outside a suburban St. Louis bowling alley.
Station KSDK reports that the shooting happened late Friday night when officers were called to Tropicana Lanes in Richmond Heights for a fight. Police say that by the time officers arrived, the fight was over, and people began leaving.
That’s when police say Donte McGary pulled a gun and fired at another person, but ended up fatally shooting 45-year-old Demetrius Stewart, who was not involved and sitting in his car.
Stewart was taken to a hospital, where he died.
McGary was arrested at the scene and has been charged with first-degree murder, assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
He is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
