Holiday comedy coming to Community Players

November 28, 2018

Community Players is getting ready for the holidays with their upcoming production “Seasonal Allergies.” This comedy runs Dec. 7, 8, 14, 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m.

The box office, located at 412 Ella St., Beatrice, is open weekdays from noon to 5:30 p.m. and two hours prior to performances. Reservations can also be made by calling (402) 228-1801 or online at www.beatricecommunityplayers.com.

The holidays are meant to be spent with family, but what happens when that family won’t leave? Hungry and heartbroken, Julia Shelby’s brother appears on her doorstep and proceeds to turn her living room, and her whole life, upside down in “Seasonal Allergies.”

“This show will tick all the boxes on your holiday comedy wish list – spousal zingers, shlubby brothers-in-law, heartwarming resolutions, and one cute karate-chopping kid. What more could you ask for?” said Tyler Rinne, Community Players associate artistic director.

Playing Julia is Laura Maurstad, with David Maurstad appearing as her son, Charlie. Trevor Kern takes on the role of Julia’s heartbroken brother, Pete, with Sterling Johnson as Julia’s husband, Thomas. The couple’s best friends, J.D. and Alison, are brought to life by Brandon Clark and Morgan Tunink, while Stacey Troxel appears as the neighbor who gets caught up in the holiday crisis.

Ticket prices are $18 for adults and $12 for students. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.

Community Players 2018-2019 Season sponsors are Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center and The Hospital Foundation.
