Volleyball: Pirates, Warriors, Eagles sweep; JC, Falcons fall
WATERLOO — Sophomore Brooke Mosher finished with 15 kills and 14 assists as host Waterloo swept Belleville, 25-18, 25-20, 25-11 to stay atop the Capitol South volleyball standings Tuesday.
Sophomore Joslyn Woff finished with 10 kills, five aces and seven digs while freshman Michaela Reige added 18 digs and three aces. Senior Kate Kuhl distributed 14 assists for the Pirates (15-8, 6-0 South), ranked fourth in Division 3 by the WVCA, who travel to third-ranked Lake Country Lutheran for Saturday’s Lightning Invitational.

POYNETTE — Kaylee Raymond had 16 assists to go with four aces as Lakeside Lutheran easily swept host Poynette, 25-15, 25-13, 25-10, in Tuesday’s Capitol North volleyball match.
Ella Collins finished with a dozen kills while Kaitlyn Shadoski had eight to go with a pair of blocks. Grace Westrate put up 17 assists, Kylee Gnabasik came up with 22 digs and Lydia Bilitz added four aces for the Warriors.
Lakeside (20-9, 6-0 North), which now holds a two-game lead on the league, hosts Luther Prep Tuesday on Volley for Hope night.
BRODHEAD — Cassidy Spies led Jefferson with 11 kills and three aces to go with 12 digs in Tuesday’s 25-23, 25-22, 25-19 Rock Valley volleyball sweep at Brodhead.
“We had a lot of unforced errors in the first set including five missed serves but the girls were able to remain calm, collected and confident,” Jefferson coach Kaley Jacobson said. “I truly believe the girls are starting to realize what it takes to win as a team.”
Brooklyn Fritz supplied eight kills, a dozen digs and three aces while Mariah Hall dished out 18 assists. Parker Biwer had a team-high 15 digs and Olivia Ganser added 2.5 blocks for the Eagles (2-1 RVC), who host Big Foot on Thursday.

JOHNSON CREEK — Princeton-Green Lake outlasted Johnson Creek’s volleyball team 25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 22-25, 15-7 in a nonconference match on Tuesday.
Kenadie La Sage put up 33 assists, Kaitlyn Kuhl had 13 kills and Bella Herman led in digs with 16 for the Bluejays (9-5), who host Parkview in a Trailways South match on Thursday.
VALLEY CHRISTIAN 3, HUSTISFORD 0
OSHKOSH — Valley Christian swept Hustisford 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 in a Trailways East volleyball match on Tuesday.
Kayla Van Maanen had 13 kills and Carla Van Maanen put up 23 assists for Valley Christian (11-9, 4-0 in conference). Hustisford slipped to 11-8 and 3-1 in conference. The Falcons travel to face Oakfield on Thursday.
