Commissioners Plan To Vote On County Budget Wednesday

November 19, 2018

SCRANTON — Lackawanna County Commissioners plan to vote Wednesday on the county’s final 2019 budget, which does not include a property tax increase. Commissioners introduced earlier this month the roughly $127.25 million fiscal budget for first reading. The budget includes about a $2.7 million general fund operating deficit that would shrink the county’s projected surplus from about $27.07 million to about $24.37 million by the end of next year. Wednesday’s meeting begins at 10 a.m. in the sixth-floor conference room of the county administration building, 200 Adams Ave., Scranton. The county board of elections will meet in the same location at 11:30 a.m. to certify the results of the Nov. 6 election followed by the county prison board at 12:30 p.m. — JEFF HORVATH
