Pedri: Luzerne County Set To Save On Energy Costs
Luzerne County will save more than $100,000 per year after signing contracts with private energy contractors, according to county Manager David Pedri.
“I’m pleased to report that through the competitive bidding process the county was able to obtain favorable energy rates for our electric and natural gas consumption,” Pedri wrote in an email to county council. “Through these contracts, the county is set to save $112,416.50 annually in utility costs.”
Pedri credited Edmund O’Neill, county director of operational services, for working to obtain the best possible rates. The county finalized agreements with Constellation New Energy, Inc. and Liberty Power, according to Pedri’s email.
County council in January authorized Pedri to enter into multi-year utility supply contracts.
