Man gets life sentence in fatal robbery
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — An Oklahoma man has sentenced to life in prison for a fatal robbery in Florida.
The Sun Sentinel reports that James Gentry was sentenced Friday after a Broward County jury found him guilty of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors say Gentry and his brother, Timothy Gentry, met Ralph Apuzzo at a Wilton Manors bar in 2008. Authorities say the brothers returned to Apuzzo’s Coconut Creek home with him, robbed him and left him to die of suffocation.
Timothy Gentry previously pleaded no contest to charges in the case and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He also testified against his brother, saying it was James Gentry’s idea to kill Apuzzo.
