A Rochester man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly was seen waving what appeared to be a handgun around in a parking lot.

A Rochester Police Officer was flagged down around 7:30 p.m. by a visibly shaken woman who reported that a man had been waving around a handgun in the parking lot of 830 21st Ave. SE, Rochester Police Capt. John Sherwin said.

The officer called for additional officers before approaching a group of three men. One of the men, Faruq Omar, 24, was found with a BB gun that resembled a revolver, Sherwin said.

Omar may be facing charges of felony terroristic threats and a gross misdemeanor of carrying a BB gun/rifle/shotgun/assault weapon in public.
