Prep basketball: Big Blacks defeat Huntington St. Joe boys 44-28

RIPLEY, W.Va. - Point Pleasant downed Huntington St. Joe 44-28 in a Saturday boys basketball game at the Ripley Holiday Tournament.

Braxton Yates led Point Pleasant (1-2) with 15 points and Kyelar Morrow followed with 10.

Noah Bolton’s 13 points were high for the Irish (1-5).

POINT PLEASANT 12 6 15 11 - 44: Morrow 10, Sang 8, Bush 7, Yates 15, Justus 2, Cobb 2.

HUNTINGTON ST. JOE 5 11 12 0 - 28: Price 2, Adkins 5, Sweeney 4, Eplin 4, Bolton 13.

LOGAN 77, WOODROW WILSON 76: David Early pumped in 36 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished eight assists for Logan at the American Homes Holiday Classic Tournament in Morgantown.

Logan (5-1) also had Drew Hatfield with 21 points and seven assists.

Bryce Bradford scored 28 and Ben Gilliam 20 for Woodrow Wilson (0-3).

PORTSMOUTH 45, SOUTHEASTERN 37: Jasmine Eley scored 26 and retrieved eight rebounds to lead the Trojans (3-6) over the Panthers (3-7). Cidney Huff paced Southeastern with 12 points. Lyndsey Skeens scored 10.

HURRICANE 69, WINFIELD 60: Joe Muto scored 16 and snagged 11 rebounds to back Austin Dearing’s 21 points as the Redskins (4-0) defeated the Generals (1-3). Jordan Nicely chipped in 13 points. Nate Vance led Winfield with 17 points. Bryant Moore added 12.

TRIMBLE 60, SOUTH GALLIA 59: Cameron Kittle hit a game-winning 3-pointer in the closing seconds of overtime to lift the Tomcats (3-0) over the Rebels (4-3) in Mercerville, Ohio. Braxton Hardy led South Gallia with 19 points. Garrett Sanders scored 14. Brayden Weber paced Trimble with 19 points. Kittle scored 18.

PORTSMOUTH CLAY 63, SYMMES VALLEY 58: Hunter Mathias led the Panthers (4-5) with 21 points in a triumph over the Vikings (4-4). Garret Beegan scored 14. Trenton Turner led Symmes Valley with 20 points.

WELLSTON 46, RIVER VALLEY 36: Bryce Randolph scored 13 and Rylan Molihan 10 as the Rockets (2-4) defeated the Raiders (1-6). Jordan Lambert scored 16 points and snared 12 rebounds for River Valley.

JACKSON 75, MEIGS 63: Caleb Wallis scored 33 as the Ironmen (6-1) held off the Marauders (3-5). Cooper Donaldson contributed 19 points and 14 rebounds. Coulter Cleland paced Meigs with 23 points. Weston Baer scored 16. Nick Lilly added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

WESTERN-PIKE 59, GREEN 50: Lane Brewster scored 20, Alex Humphrey 16 and Maverick Ferneau 11 as the Indians (6-1) knocked off the Bobcats (5-5). Gage Sampson led Green with 21 points.

BOYD COUNTY 54, LOUISVILLE EASTERN 46: Blake Stewart scored 24 and CarsonWebb 13 for the Lions (7-2) in the Kentucky Bank Challenge in Morehead, Kentucky.

RIPLEY 60, POINT PLEASANT 47: Isaac Putnam led all scorers with 26 to lead the Vikings past the Big Blacks. Putnam also recorded 10 steals, five rebounds and three assists. Kyelar Morrow led Point Pleasant with 12 points. Braxton Yates contributed 11.

TVC 80, OVC 51: Brandon Cook, Kevin Chang, and Devin Danford combined to outscore Ohio Valley Christian. Cook led all scorers with 20 while Chang scored 19 and Danford added 13. OVC was led by Mark Oliver with 18 points.

TUG VALLEY 53, BELFRY 51: Alyssa Newsome and Kaylea Baisden topped the Belfry scoring with 20 and 16 respectively. Belfry’s Kenzie Maynard tossed in 28 and Lyndsey Miller followed with 11.

OVC 36, TVC 12: Emily Childers scored 12 and pulled down 13 rebounds as Ohio Valley Christian (5-5) beat Teays Valley Christian in Gallipolis, Ohio.

RUSSELL 57, GEORGE ROGERS CLARK 46: The Red Devils (7-1) used a 22-5 streak to win their sixth straight, beating the Cardinals in the Hoop it Up tournament in Frankfort, Kentucky. Lakie Sanders scored 16 and snatched 10 rebounds for Russell. Aubrey Hill scored 10 and grabbed 13 rebounds.
