LOCAL COLLEGE: Mcgurrin, Ochalski Spark Scranton To Landmark Final
Scranton Prep graduate Tarquin McGurrin and Alexander Ochalski were two-time winners to lead the University of Scranton over Juniata, 5-0, on Tuesday in a Landmark Conference men’s semifinal.
McGurrin and Ochalski had singles wins and teamed for a victory at No. 1 doubles for the Royals, who will play at top-seeded Goucher for the conference title on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Bill Chonka had two hits and two RBIs to lead Marywood University to an 11-5 win over Clarks Summit University in a college baseball game.
The Pacers (7-24) erased a 2-0 deficit with two runs in the second and five in the fourth. Michael Tempel had three hits, two runs and an RBI for Marywood.
Joshua Knight had three hits, including a double, a run and two RBIs for Clarks Summit (7-23).
Keystone 13, Immaculata 9
At La Plume, Chris Panzarella had four hits, including two doubles, and scored three runs to lead Keystone College.
Mohammed Hussein had two hits and three RBIs for Keystone, which led 13-1 after four innings. Jared Rowley allowed two hits and an unearned run over six innings to earn the win for the Giants (19-12).
Wilkes 6, Scranton 4
At Scranton, Nick Malatesta had two hits and three RBIs and Matt Reinert had three hits, including a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead Wilkes University.
The Colonels (16-20) built a 5-2 lead after three innings and JT Hibschman and Andrew Indzonka combined for 3⅓ innings of one-hit shutout relief.
Connor Harding had three hits for Scranton (14-19), including his eighth triple of the season, breaking the program’s single-season record set by John Rushefski in 1993.
