Benfica comes back 3-1 at Moreirense to increase lead
LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Benfica fought back for a 3-1 win at 10-man Moreirense to provisionally increase its lead of the Portuguese league on Saturday.
Joao Pedro opened for the hosts in the 35th minute, but Luisao headed Benfica level in the 58th to start the comeback.
Two minutes later, Moreirense lost Andre Simoes to a direct red card.
Eliseu Pereira then put the defending champions ahead in the 65th, and Jonas secured the three points with a goal in the 73rd.
Benfica moved seven points clear of second-place FC Porto before it visits Boavista on Monday.
Also, Penafiel escaped last place by winning 1-0 at Setubal, while Braga closed on third place with a 3-1 win at home over Nacional.
