Rockies Trade Acevedo to Marlins
DENVER (AP) _ The Colorado Rockies traded right-hander Juan Acevedo to the Florida Marlins on Monday for minor league infielder Josue Espada.
Acevedo was 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA in 32 innings for Colorado this season. The Rockies activated right-hander Kane Davis from the 15-day disabled list to take Acevedo’s roster spot.
Espada hit .295 with two homers and 29 RBIs in 78 games with Triple-A Calgary. Espada will report to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
This was the 28th trade completed by Rockies general Manager Dan O’Dowd in less than two years. Last Tuesday, the Rockies traded right-hander Pedro Astacio and cash to Houston for right-hander Scott Elarton and a player to be named.
The week before, the Rockies sent shortstop Neifi Perez to Kansas City in a three-team deal. Infielder Jose Ortiz, outfielder Mario Encarnacion and left-hander Todd Belitz went from Oakland to Colorado and outfielder Jermaine Dye went to the Athletics.
