Not a Bright Outlook for Falcon Men
The Fitchburg State men’s soccer team was recently selected eighth overall with a total of seven points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) preseason poll.
Salem State, which claimed the conference’s regular season and postseason titles last fall, captured six first place votes for 47 points, while Bridgewater State placed second with a total of 40 points, including one first-place ballot.
Landing in the third slot is Framingham State with 31 points, while Worcester State ranked fourth in the pre-season poll with 30 points, which included the final first-place vote.
Tying for the fourth spot with the Lancers was Westfield State with 30 points, while Massachusetts Maritime finished in sixth with a total of 28 points. Rounding out the poll are MCLA and Fitchburg State with 11 and seven points, respectively.
The Falcons finished last season 4-10-2, including an 0-6-1 mark in MASCAC play.
The Fitchburg State men’s soccer team will kick off the 2018 season on Aug. 31 as it travels to Elms College to take on the Blazers at Leary Field for a contest starting at 7 p.m.
