Recruit watch: Burke’s Hickman has big night under the lights before big announcement
Nebraska’s most-recent commit had his hand in Class A top-ranked Omaha Burke’s 41-24 win against defending state champion Omaha North on Friday.
Chris Hickman caught a 9-yard touchdown, while also giving the Vikings fits on defense. Hickman had eight tackles, one sack, an interception and a forced fumble as Burke continues to roll this fall.
Less than 24 hours after helping lead Burke to a win, Hickman announced his commitment to the Huskers.
Others of note
Hickman’s teammate, Nick Henrich, had nine tackles against Omaha North. The Husker linebacker recruit has 46 tackles this season, including 10 TFLs.
NU quarterback recruit Luke McCaffrey (Littleton, Colorado) completed 20-of-37 for 270 yards and a touchdown in Valor Christian’s 28-7 win against Pine Creek. McCaffrey did just as much damage with his legs, rushing for 95 yards and two touchdowns. That included a 35-yard score in which McCaffrey faked a handoff and bounced around outside.
Husker athlete prospect Wandale Robinson (Frankfort, Kentucky) put up video-game-like numbers in Western Hills’ 41-23 win against Frankfort. The four-star prospect finished with 365 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns, including a 21-yard touchdown catch and a 96-yard punt return for a TD. According to the Lexington Herald, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops was on hand to watch.
Nebraska athlete recruit Jamie Nance (Blanchard, Oklahoma) also had a busy night. Nance caught a 61-yard touchdown and rushed four times for 37 yards and another score in Blanchard’s 48-14 win against Newcastle.
Husker recruit Garrett Snodgrass rushed for 112 yards, passed for 182 yards and accounted for four touchdowns in the Dukes’ 42-37 loss to Omaha Skutt.
Husker linebacker recruit Jackson Hannah (Nashville) had four tackles in Montgomery Bell Academy’s 45-7 win against Father Ryan.
NU running back recruit Dedrick Mills (Garden City Community College) rushed 22 times for 125 yards and a touchdown in the Broncbusters come-from-behind 28-21 win against Independence. Mills also added a two-point conversion.
Husker defensive tackle recruit Tony Fair (Pima Community College) had one of the Aztecs’ six interceptions in a 30-13 junior college win.
NU offensive lineman recruit Michael Lynn (Englewood, Colorado) helped pave the way for 387 total yards in Cherry Creek’s 35-34 overtime win against Pomona. Lynn also received a scholarship offer from Penn State over the weekend.
Husker defensive lineman recruit Ethan Piper (Norfolk Catholic) had a fumble recovery in the Knights’ 49-14 win against Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur.
