Montgomery Inn barbecue added to Progressive Field food options
CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cincinnati-based barbecue restaurant has been named the official barbecue and barbecue sauce of the Cleveland Indians.
Montgomery Inn – “The Ribs King” – has a Forest City BBQ stand in the upper deck over first base at section 541.
It features a brisket sandwich, topped with Dixie slaw and served with a side for $13, and platters (pulled chicken, pulled pork or kielbasa with corn bread and two sides) for $12. Sides are baked beans, cole slaw, mac n cheese and potato salad for $3.
Progressive Field is Montgomery Inn’s only Cleveland location, but the sauce is available at Heinen’s.
Over the past several seasons, the Indians have stepped up stadium fare. Much of the lower concourse along both bases features Northeast Ohio-based restaurants and breweries, including Dante’s Inferno, Momocho, Ohio City Burrito, The Brew Kettle, Market Garden Brewery, Butcher and the Brewer and others. The outfield area includes Sweet Moses, Melt Bar and Grilled, Great Lakes Brewing Co. and more.
Montgomery Inn’s roots date to 1951. Its food and sauce can be found at Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park, which features several barbecue joints among its concession offerings. (Here’s a comparison of the baseball stadiums in Cleveland and Cincinnati.)
