Woman killed, multiple displaced in Philadelphia fires
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Multiple late night house fires in Philadelphia have left one woman dead and others displaced.
The first fire broke out around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the city’s Chestnut Hill neighborhood.
Firefighters arrived to flames coming from both floors of the 2-story home, and an elderly woman was transported from the scene to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Her name has not been released.
A second fire was reported around 3 a.m. Sunday in Old City.
Assistant Fire Chief Richard Davison says there was a partial collapse on the second floor, and it wasn’t safe for firefighters to go inside the building.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of both fires remains under investigation.
